Bookstore Shenanigans (JapanXReader)

“Why am I doing this again?” you huff as you trudged through the snow that was blanketing the sidewalk.


You were close to reaching your destination, a bookshop, but it was not just ANY bookshop it was the bookshop “he” worked at.


You mentally scolded yourself time and time again for your weak willed nature when it comes to this; you would come in everyday just to see the counter boy.


You had never spoken to him, nor have you ever even attempted to approach the boy but you were already in love with him!


You opened the door to the store and stepped inside the warm bookstore instantly running for cover when the boy looked up at you from the counter with those alluring chocolate brown eyes.


That’s when you realized something, there was no one in the store and you were alone with the boy who made you feel butterflies in your stomach with just a glance.


“I was wondering if you’d show up, it’s snowing pretty hard out there” you jumped at the boy’s voice and hid behind a bookshelf.


You heard his footsteps over by the door and you could hear the telltale signs of him fiddling with the door.


You had popped your head out for a second to see what he was doing when you saw he had turned the sign from open to closed; you blushed and hid as you wondered where he was.


“You can come out, I made us some hot chocolate, I’ll even add marshmallows if that’s what’ll draw you out” he said while chuckling at his words “I just want to talk to the girl who I see every day yet know nothing about”


You giggled at his proposition of marshmallows and came out of your hiding spot to see he had two cups of hot coco waiting as he promised.


You made your way to the counter and eyed him shyly with a blush on your face; he smiled a warm smile and took a sip of the coco.


“My name is Kiku, what is yours?” he asked shyly as he looked down at his coco, you quickly said “My name is ____”.


Kiku smiled and put down his coco, “Well ______, I am pleased to finally meet you” you looked at him and said “Did you really see me all the times you came here?”


Kiku smiled and answered “It’s hard to miss such a beauty, I wanted to ask who you were the first came in here”


You smiled and relaxed a bit before saying “I want to know who you are; I mean I’ve always seen you but I don’t know you”


Kiku chuckled before saying I am Kiku Honda: I am originally from Japan, I own a bookstore, I really love tuna, hate broccoli, have a cat and a dog and have really weird friends”


You giggled before saying “I am _____  _______, I was born here, I am a novice dancer hoping to make it big one day, I really love pizza and ice cream, hate beets, have a cat and a fish and also have really weird friends”


By the time you two had finished the both of you had burst into laughter at the facts about yourselves, you two had talked for hours just smiling and talking about anything and everything all the while just enjoying each other.

“Oh shoot! It’s so late I have to go home! I’ll see you tomorrow Kiku, I’m glad I got to know you!” you shouted as you can out into the snow.


You were so worried about getting home you hadn’t seen or heard Kiku come up behind you.
You were spun around and a pair of warm lips were pressed gingerly on yours , Kiku drew back and smiled softly before saying, “I am glad I got to know you too _____”


With that he went back into the bookstore and left you to melt right there in a heap of warm feelings and happiness before you walked back to your home.
You would definitely be going back tomorrow.
